Commercial Compost ProgramRates: A clean 35-gallon roll-cart is provided for $5.25 per month with a weekly pick-up. There is no deposit per roll-cart. (If you choose to get rid of the same material as garbage, the cost would be $15.42 per month!) Note: Contact our office for more information.
Help us keep compostable material out of our landfill. Diverting food from the waste stream significantly reduces the global warming impact from landfills, as decomposing food waste is a major source of the greenhouse gas methane. Commercial accounts can put uncooked vegetable and fruit trimmings (pre-consumer only), paper coffee filters, coffee grinds, tea bags and floral clippings in a 35-gallon cart. A clean 35-gallon roll-cart is provided, with a weekly Wednesday pick-up. There is no deposit per roll-cart. This program is also a big money saver for you: if you treated the same amount of material like garbage, it would cost you cost you approximately three times as much to have it removed. Customer is responsible for contamination in carts. We cannot accept post-consumer food, meat, plastic, or rubber bands. Only uncooked, pre-consumer vegetables and fruit trimmings, coffee grinds, tea bags, and floral clippings are accepted. Diverting pre-consumer food and other organic material from the waste stream significantly reduces the global warming impact from landfills. Food waste is the third largest component of generated waste by weight. Because of its low composting rate, it is the largest component of discarded waste by weight. The average person generates about 197 pounds of solid waste per year ("Measurement Standards and Reporting Guidelines," National Recycling Coalition, www.nrc-recycle.org). The businesses below have chosen to divert organic material from the landfill. It is collected weekly or bi-monthly and transported to Dry Creek landfill, where it is ground up with leaves and other green debris. Once composted, it is available for sale. The Commercial Compost program has 28 customers. Only the commercial customers who gave permission are listed below:
