Why Recycling Is Important and How You Can Help

  • Discarding reusable materials is avoidable.
  • An assured supply of recovered materials will help develop and sustain markets for those materials.
  • Recycling makes materials available so we can buy products and packaging that have as much recycled content as possible.
  • A product's reusability moves us toward sustainability.
  • Recycling reduces dependency on imported, virgin, and non-renewable resources.
  • Recycling reduces the tonnage we have to haul to our regional landfill.
  • Recycling reduces what you throw away, which may lower your garbage bill.
